The past week I've done a LOT of networking and ev

The past week I've done a LOT of networking and events, three in one day on Friday (but it was a lot of events for International Women's day so this isn't the norm)!

Also over the past week people have asked me do I find that it's worth it, I am getting the return.

My first answer is always going to be sometimes it's not a financial return. I've been networking before I even started my business, I'm a people person and I draw my energy from others. I also love supporting other people and receiving support from those I have built up a relationship with.

So to me that always comes first, if I don't feel like I fit in to an event or it's too salesy then I probably won't go back. As time is also a factor, I can't network all day everyday (even if I wanted to) because at the end of the day I still need to actually do the work.

So although it seems like I'm always networking, but I am selective about the events that I go to and ones that I go back to.

In terms of income, when some books a call with me or ends up working with me they get asked how they found me and the networks I go to are broken down. Referrals and past clients are my highest earners with networking coming in second (although some referrals are through people I've met in networking events) so looking at the numbers I roughly 10 times the sales as the income I've spent out, it could be a bit more.

But I get it's not for some people, I like being around people, I love chatting - it's an easy way for me to get my business out there doing something I enjoy. or others that may be doing things differently, so it may be social media or something else entirely. To me it doesn't feel like work and I have consistent leads from it.

But if you don't network and you would like to my top tips for you would be find somewhere you feel like you fit it and can be comfortable, don't go just to sell, try both online and offline networking to see what you would prefer, go twice to an event before you make a decision, but most of all be yourself and if you don't like it don't do it!
